THE Fulford Spring Cup, the first major tennis tournament of the season in the York area, will be played on Saturday.

Civil Service's Andy Potter and Helen Leach won last year's tournament and Potter returns with a new partner, Wendy Cook, to defend the title.

A strong batch of visiting players will be split in to two groups to challenge ten couples from the host club.

Representing Fulford will be Neil Haw and Julie reilly, Tony Precious and Jill McCreedy, Richard and Diane Ekers, Steve Price and Katy Hargreaves, Paul Ruff and Georgina Worley, Paul Prest and Linda Irving, Terry Haw and jackie Heels, Mark Cook and Beryl Bean, George Barnes and Emma Passay and Martin Evans and Anna Baker.

Yorkshire Lawn Tennis Association president Floss Slack will present the winners with their trophies.
