TWO York College students are really on a roll.
Barry Weetman and Katie Hills have been selected to represent Great Britain in Roller Hockey by the British Inline Puck Hockey Association.
Weetman, (17), from Sherburn-in-Elmet, has been picked to play for Great Britain, in Detroit, USA, in August as part of the Junior Olympics.
However, he needs to secure £1,000 in sponsorship to get him there.
Barry plays for the Snaith Stormers and is currently studying for his first Diploma in Sport at York College.
He has very little spare time as hockey and college work fill his every moment, but finally he has achieved his ultimate goal, to represent his country in the sport he loves best.
"I can't quite believe it," he said. "This means everything to me, all I need now is the sponsorhip to get me to the USA."
York College 'A' level student Katie Hills, 17, from Stamford Bridge, has again been selected to represent Britain.
She played for the GB squad last summer in New York and now the Snaith Stormer player has been included in the Womens GB squad in the First World Championships in Pisek in the Czech Republic in June.
The trip means Katie is arranging to take her economics and pure maths 'A' levels while on tour and she will have to travel up to Prague to sit them in order that she doesn't miss out on the World Championships.
She said: "I am really proud and excited about being selected for the GB womens team, for the second time. Playing last year in the USA was a great experience and it has given me a real taste for travel.
"Like Barry, I spend all my spare time training and studying. This trip to the Czech Republic is really important to me and I pleased that I can combine sport and study whilst I'm there."
