STAFF and customers at York's Asda store have lost pounds - to raise pounds for charity.
A group of women took part in a sponsored slimathon over three months to boost Breast Cancer Care funds.
And they succeeded in raising about £200 by shedding around 70lbs.
Maree Edgar, events co-ordinator at the Monks Cross store, said the slimathon was launched in January and involved weekly meetings in the store's training room.
As well as regular weigh-ins to see how the slimmers were doing, a number of speakers came along to chat to the slimmers. Speakers included one from Courtney's Gym at Monks Cross to talk about fitness and others from York NHS Trust to discuss healthy eating issues.
