YORK City reserves were in action this afternoon in a re-arranged Avon Insurance League division one east encounter.
City's second string were taking on their Mansfield Town counterparts in their last reserve team outing of the season at Bootham Crescent, kick-off 2pm,
City currently occupy seventh place in the table, three points ahead of ninth-placed Mansfield, who have a game in hand on the Minstermen reserves.
Included in the squad is striker Alex Mathie, whose contract was cancelled last week.
City's senior side meanwhile dropped from third to sixth place in the Division Three table following their blank weekend.
Bournemouth's 2-0 win at Scunthorpe moved the Cherries up into the remaining automatic promotion place behind leaders Hartlepool and second-placed Rushden & Diamonds.
Wrexham moved up into fourth place with a 2-1 win at Hull, Denis Smith's side, who have a game in hand on City, coming from behind to claim the win.
Torquay's 2-0 win at Rochdale, City's opponents this Saturday, also moved the Gulls above the Minstermen while Oxford's 1-0 win at Lincoln saw Ian Atkins' side move back into the play-off places.
However, while City were pegged back, Terry Dolan's team now have a game in hand on all the teams in the top ten, with the exception of Wrexham.
Should City win that game in hand, the three points would be enough to catapult them back into third place.
City Reserves: Stockdale, McKenzie, Baynes, Brackstone, Wise, Davidson, Ashcroft, Wilding, Arthur, Mathie, Stuart, Law, Collinson, McCabe, Wood.
