TV gladiator James Crossley could be facing an unlikely new battle - as a contender to succeed Dame Janet Baker as Chancellor of the University of York.
The muscle-bound hunk, who starred as Hunter in the hit TV series, is in the frame for the honorary position after the former opera singer announced she is to stand down next year.
He joins other household names such as comedian Harry Enfield, BBC boss Greg Dyke and James Bond composer John Barry as possible successors.
But student union president Tom Connor said York-born actress Dame Judi Dench had already emerged as a strong favourite with support from academics and students.
"The realistic list isn't exactly extensive," he said. "It would be shame if it wasn't somebody high profile. I hope they appoint somebody relatively well known, accessible and who the students can identify with."
University spokesperson Hilary Layton said students and members of university staff had until April 30 to nominate a successor.
