POLICE have reported a spate of burglaries in the York area.
Burglars took advantage of an unlocked back door to steal a CD player and CDs from a house in Broadway West, off Fulford Road.
A rear downstairs window of a house in Cameron Grove, off Bishopthorpe Road, was smashed by thieves who stole a number of items including a Canon camera, computer parts, CDs and an orange-coloured guitar worth £250, which has a pick-up switch missing.
Neighbours called the police when they spotted two men breaking into a house in Brunswick Street, York, while the occupants were away. It is believed that cash and bank cards were stolen.
Householders returned to their property in Roche Avenue, Heworth, in the early hours of Saturday morning to find they had been burgled.
But the thieves, who entered through a kitchen window, did not manage to steal much because they may have been disturbed.
A Flymo lawnmower was stolen from an outhouse of a property in Hammerton Close, York.
