RESIDENTS have laid out their 20-year vision for Haxby, near York.
Every household was sent a questionnaire by the town council to find out how they would like to see the town develop by the year 2020.
Town councillor Alan Robertshaw said more than 1,500 residents had so far responded.
Questions related to subjects including recreation, transport, crime and education.
"We are absolutely delighted with the response of Haxby people," Mr Robertshaw said.
"It's easy to think that people are not interested in their community any more. But this result shows that, at least in Haxby, that is just not true.
"The town council would like to thank very much everyone who replied and those who have volunteered to help us in the future."
The results will be used to formulate a grand plan for Haxby over the next 20 years.
Residents can have their say on its future at the annual town meeting to be held in the Memorial Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday, April 17.
