PANTOMIME dame Berwick Kaler is to celebrate his jubilee year in style when he is made an Honorary Freeman of the City of York.
Councillors yesterday agreed to Berwick joining other York luminaries, including Oscar-winners Dame Judi Dench and composer John Barry.
They agreed to the proposal put forward by the Lord Mayor, Coun David Horton.
He said: "Having been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of York for his contribution to the theatre, I feel he would be equally entitled to have confirmed upon him the status of Honorary Freeman of the City of York for the immeasurable pleasure he has given to countless thousands of York citizens, young and old alike."
