A 60-year-old East Yorkshire man has been banned from the roads for his third drink-driving offence in less than 20 years.
Martin Butterworth, prosecuting, told York magistrates that Stuart Rowley was about twice the legal alcohol limit when police followed him along the A1079 Hull Road and stopped him in York Road, Dunnington, on March 29, because he was driving at less than 20 mph in a 30 mph zone.
The court heard he had two previous convictions for drink-driving offences.
Rowley, of Burnby Lane, Pocklington, pleaded guilty to drink-driving and was fined £400 with £55 costs and banned from driving for three years.
His solicitor, Michael Kirby, said Rowley had had a drink at lunchtime, then driven into York to buy gravel. He had also had two pints at a pub. Rowley works for a transport and welding firm.
