TANKARD have broken Royal Oak's two-year domination of the Marston Moor Villages Doubles-Board League.

The Rufforth side swept aside Hammerton Social 7-2, whose main resistance came from Stuart Jackson, to take the title.

John Collins included a ton and 68 finish for 24 darts, which was well backed by Steve Green and Alan Whitehead.

Tadcaster's Oak finished runners-up but were hard pressed to get a 5-4 result at Spotted Ox. Tons from Dave Richmond and Kevin Wilks put the Tockwith team 4-2 up but Oak coined the pairs, Gary Stead a 100 scorer.

Tankard 'B' controlled the singles 5-1, Jim Young scoring high and Frank Brooke checking 75 for 24 darts. Alice Hawthorn 'A' had Chris Hall registering a ton and the match ended 5-4.

Lord Collingwood's 7-2 win over Alice 'B' included a three-tops score from Steve Wragg and clinical finishing from Nick Brown, while Sun, Marton, had hundreds from Gerry Dawson, Dick Foster, Keith Harrison and Steve Lambert to overpower Poppleton's Lord Nelson 8-1.

Paul Yore played well to help Marston Sports take the aggregate in a 6-3 defeat to Red Lion, who had Ray Bean in form.

Reigning York John Smith's Men's League division one champions Cygnet 'A' began the summer campaign with a 5-4 defeat at Poacher.

Darren Hawcroft starred with 19 darts and Ray McInally-Gary Kynman took the decider. However, wide wins by Dave Mason then Mark Hartley (180)-Jack White salvaged the aggregate.

A maximum from Mick Brookes set Holgate off to a 4-0 lead. Green Tree 'B' battled back to level but Brooke partnered Pete West to collect the last game win.

Sun 'A' beat Dringhouses 7-2, whose Mick Leggatt (174) won well. Chris Thompson threw a superb 13-darter, stylishly supported by 21 from Tony Cooper.

Cue Ball's league initiation saw them comfortably conquer last season's division two champions, Blacksmith's, 7-2, Dave Endeacott showing up best, while Shepherd slugged Rose and Crown, whose only winner was Paul Bartnett. Chas Ramsden (20) and Mark Jones led the onslaught.

Saddle's Andy King threw a fine 19 darts and Phil Knatt a maximum, but they failed to trouble Bay Horse, Marygate.

Ron Simpson's splendid 17 darts was backed by 20 from Paul Keers, who shot 180 then 106 finish with John Waller to pick up the 5-4 victory.

In division two, Swan's Ged McMahon threw 21 then partnered Andy Carruthers to get a 5-4 result over Cygnet 'B'.

Pete Watson set Institute 'A' on the way to a 7-2 win over Sun 'B', whose winners were Bill Bates and Ian Walsh, while the meeting of the Slip sides saw Garry Strider shining and the 'B' team going 4-0 up. Ted Bone partnered Phil Smith to finish the job.

A ninth game win by Mark Renshaw-John Roberts gave Old Ebor the major share of the points against Green Tree 'A', whose Kev Pallister and Mark Archer had good wins to rescue the aggregate.

Steve Machen's splendid 17 darts helped Osbaldwick to a 6-3 over Groves who had a 180 scorer in Barry Houlden.

Competition entries must be received this weekend.

Fulford Conservatives have won their first championship by beating title holders Fulfordgate in a play-off for York White Rose Ladies' League division One.

Conservatives opened a 2-0 lead when collecting the team and first pair games, but Fulfordgate were not giving in and Karen Reasbeck-Jean Hussain then Beryl Glover equalised.

Even so, Conservatives were hungry for success and Maureen Lodge won well for Michelle Harrison to seal a memorable victory.

The competition finals take place at Crescent WMC tonight (8pm).

Old adversaries Beryl Glover and Maureen Tindall (Institute) battle for the individual crown, while Janice Turton-Sue Smith (New Earswick Bowling) seek to win the pairs title from Maggie Adamson-June Mallory who represent Coach, Tadcaster.

The triples contest is between Winning Post and Fulfordgate.
