PLANS to develop a former private school in the centre of York into a restaurant, shops and apartments are set to be given the go ahead.
Planning officers have recommended approving the application for the development of the former York College for Girls on Low Petergate.
The application would involve converting and extending the main school building to create five retail units and a restaurant and demolishing the former gymnasium to provide 17 apartments.
The school was founded in 1908 and closed six years ago due to a cash crisis.
The application will be discussed at a meeting of the planning and transport sub committee, at the Guildhall, on Thursday, at 5pm.
