DOCUMENTS showing that blind prisoner Yvonne Sleightholme may have been kept locked up unfairly are to be passed to a Government Minister.
Ryedale Tory MP John Greenway said the papers, obtained by the Evening Press, showed that the Parole Board had made an error of fact when it refused Sleightholme a transfer to an open prison last October.
The Board said then that unless Sleightholme, who was jailed in 1991 for shooting dead a Ryedale farmer's wife in 1989, completed enhanced thinking skills and anger management courses, it believed she posed too great a risk of serious violence.
But we obtained documents showing she completed an enhanced thinking skills course last August and underwent an anger management course five years earlier.
Mr Greenway said the papers showed there had been a procedural error, and he would pass them on to a Home Office Minister. He said he was asking for her to be transferred to an open prison.
