Evening Press photographer David Harrison caught these workmen removing single zig-zag yellow lines in James Street, York, only a week after they were put down.
The lines were painted on the busy industrial road by mistake following confusion between council engineers and contractors.
But motorists shouldn't chuckle too loudly - for the zig zags are to be replaced this weekend by double yellow lines!
A City of York Council spokeswoman said: "There was some confusion between engineers and contractors over the use of double yellow lines. They will be put in place on Sunday morning.
"The cost of removing the lines will be borne by the contractors, as it was their mistake, so taxpayers will not have to pay."
