HEWORTH loose-forward Steve Barnard and New Earswick All Blacks' Jo Jo Hnesh have been named in the Yorkshire squad for the British Amateur Rugby League Association County Champion-ship head-to-head with arch-rivals Lancashire on Sunday, writes Peter Martini.
Barnard was in the Tykes squad last year which lifted the crown for the second successive season and both he and Hnesh, who makes his White Rose debut, will no doubt hope to catch the eye of BARLA Great Britain Lions coach Mick Turner, who is expected that evening to announce his squad to take part in the Victory Cup in Moscow against Russia, USA and France in May.
Lancashire beat Cumbria 26-24 in the Championship opener at Whitehaven and a victory on Sunday, at Blackbrook ARLFC, kick off 2.30pm, would see the Red Rose county reclaim the title they last won in 1999.
Yorkshire host Cumbria in the final game of the three-team round-robin tournament at Featherstone on Sunday, April 13.
