Mike Hetherton of York Acorn Running Club held on to his narrow lead in the over 50s age category in the penultimate race of the Cleveland Winter Fell series.
The race was the White Horse Wander from Sutton Bank, over seven miles. Hetherton finished 19th overall, while team-mate Phil Paxman was third in the same age category and 30th overall.
There were some other good performances in the race from Acorn runners, with Heather McIntosh third, and lady veteran and new member Cathy Ashton third lady.
Andy Normandale was seventh overall and third over 40 veteran and the men's team, completed by John Duston in 33rd place, were also third.
There was a good size field of 100 runners.
The overall positions will be decided at the Guisborough Moors race early next month.
