AS THE daffodils bloom in our gardens, Alan Titchmarsh makes a timely and welcome return to the bookshelves with eight chapters on how to create a garden to be proud of and enjoy.
It may still look pretty grim out there among the sleeping plants, untidy borders and general chaos that winter brings, but Alan's words, complemented by some delightful photographs by Jonathan Buckley, are full of the joys of spring and summer.
For the keen gardener this is a book to savour. For the beginner, try Book One, which sold more than half a million copies and planted itself at the top of the sales charts for several weeks.
The sequel is a weighty tome full of boundless enthusiasm and passion. Titchmarsh revels in his role as teacher and advisor and writes of the joys gardening in almost evangelical tones. Check out the accompanying TV series now showing on BBC2 to get a flavour.
