THE return to the ring of Yorvik Warrior Jamie Warters is proving a red-leather daze.
Demand for tickets to the cruiserweight collision between Warters and Birmingham's Michael Pinnock at Willerby Manor just outside Hull on April 3 has stunned one of the event organisers, Colin Cain.
"On the first day the tickets were available we sold in excess of 300," said Cain of Walmgate Property Developments.
"There are 70-plus fans coming from York so Jamie is guaranteed to have a big following for the fight."
The clash - Warters' first in the ring since he was beaten last November by the vastly experienced Hull battler Tony Booth - is scheduled to kick-start a hectic programme for Warters.
It is his manager Steve Pollard's intention if next week's clash goes well to restore Warters to the ring within two weeks.
Tickets for the Willerby Manor night cost £40 and include a four-course meal, plus comedian's turn, as well as the bill of boxing. They are available from Cain tel 01904 655163 or 077366 48144.
Coaches are running to Willerby Manor from York's Cross Keys pub at 6pm.
