GOLDRUSH Lake dominated Saturday's 50-peg sell-out at the Willows which went to Phil Austin (Barlby Village Stores) with a fine 41lb 5oz, writes Darren Starkey.
Drawn on peg 45 he pole fished maggot, corn and pellets tight to an island for a mixed net of carp to 3lb plus ide and tench.
Mark Rockingham (Marsh Tackle) was on peg 48 where he alternated maggot and pellet for a similar mix of fish and 32lb 6oz.
Others: Dave Pollitt (Hirst Tackle) 29-6-0, Mark Teal (Bob.co) 29-6-0, John Allerton (Tri-Cast Whizzo) 27-4-0 and Mick Wood (Bob.co) 26-5-0.
Mick Addinall topped the Mitre Angling contest on the Match Lake at Carpvale on Sunday with 19lb 12oz of small carp on pole and corn from peg 15.
Others: Barry Klar (Mitre Angling) 19-6-0, Ken Barley (Acomb) 18-13-0, Rob Morris (Acomb Tackle) 16-16-0.
A sell-out entry of 30 contested a great match on Raker's Horseshoe Lake.
Norman Dixon (Anglers Corner) went one better than last week and led with 53lb 4oz of carp on pole and bread fished to the far bank at peg one. Neil Horne (Headingley Anglers) was on peg six were he fished to the far shelf with corn for another carp net of 43lb 7oz.
Others: Wayne Nolan (Leeds) 35-5-0 and Dave Carroll (Tri-Cast Calder) 28-7-0.
The Red Lion Carpvale contest was fished on Cyprio Lake by 28 who generally found the bigger carp tricky to locate.
Andy Gallant (Armley Angling) led with a modest 17lb 10oz made up of six carp taken on pole and corn at 15 metres from peg 32.
Others: Dave Armitage (Hirst Tackle) 14-12-0, Paul Smith (Leeds) 12-10-0, Tony Haigh (Bradford) 9-14-0.
This week's open at Tollerton Pond was fished on the Carp Lake by a field of 18 who were led by Kevin Gilligan (York) with 27lb 8oz.
His fine net was made up of small carp of a variety of flavours and was taken on pole and pellet. His nearest rivals were Don Benson (York) with a level 17lb and Carl Cooper (York) who returned a straight 15lb.
A sell-out field of 68 at the Oaks enjoyed some good sport on Maple Lake at the Oaks where Chris Hawkes (Cleveland Angling Centre) scored an easy win with 66lb 11oz from corner peg 66. Offering corn over pellets into the corner and to the aerator he netted carp to 4lb. Andy Harker (Cleveland Angling Centre) also used the corn and pellet combination at peg 32 where he targeted the island margins for fish to 3lb and 35lb 8oz.
Others: Gary Pawlett (Oaks) 34-9-0, Mark Calvert (Cleveland Angling Centre) 28-11-0, John McGarrell (MAP Elton) 28-3-0 and Kev Grainger (Colmic Ossett) 28-0-0
A fine crowd of 98 at Woodlands on Saturday required all match lakes to be pressed into service.
Tony Neesom (Elton Tackle) led from Partridge 22 with 66lb 5oz. Alternating corn and pellet at seven and 13 metres he netted carp to 4lb. Stuart Newberry (Darlington Angling Centre) was on Kestrel 13 and found carp to 6lb on pole and pellet at 12 metres for his 60lb 13oz.
Others: Ian Bowman (Maver Barnsley Blacks) 59-9-0, Barry Smith (Newman Scotts) 39-5-0, John Battersby (BAS Sensas ) 31-7-0 and Bill Blythe (Newman Scotts) 30-13-0.
