TRAINER Michael Bell, who sent out Red Carpet to win at Doncaster last weekend, can hit the target again at Musselburgh tomorrow.
The Newmarket handler has a good record with his raiders on this course and Border Tale looks poised to oblige in the DM Hall Classified Stakes over a mile and a half.
The three-year-old showed definite signs of ability over shorter distances last season as a juvenile and looks the type to come into his own as a three-year-old.
Fergal Lynch has the mount on Border Tale, who can make his long journey to Scotland well worthwhile.
Lanarkshire trainer Ian Semple's Arogant Prince is primed to do the business for him in the Bet On Course with Bert Logan Handicap.
The six-year-old landed the corresponding race 12 months ago and, after a couple of runs on the sand, he should be up to making a bold encore bid.
Semple also has good prospects with Yenaled in the Pink Braes Claiming Stakes.
A busy time of sand racing should at least have ensured the fitness of this gelding, who, although not the easiest of horses to win with, seems particularly at home on this tight course.
Solomon's Mine will attempt to strike while the iron is hot in the Bert Logan Bookmaker Showcase Handicap.
Mark Polglase's gelding ran out a decisive winner at Doncaster last week and a 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop him here. Luke Fletcher, very much an up-and-coming apprentice, has the mount.
At Leicester, Living Daylights, a 'hunch' selection, is awarded my Nap vote in the Greyhound Handicap.
The lightly-raced four-year-old has little form to recommend her, but the fact that top trainer John Dunlop has kept her in training for another season is reason for encouragement alone, particularly as Dunlop is a past master at finding winning opportunities with slow-maturing horses.
Living Daylights will not get many better chances than this to make an impression and the presence of Pat Eddery on board has to class as a bonus.
- Attheraces will show six races live from the Dubai World Cup meeting on Saturday..
