HAVE-A-GO Acomb 1sts rallied from a deficit to beat visiting Brigg 1sts 2-1 and cling on to their Yorkshire League division one place.
The hosts made the better start with both Stuart Ashman and Jamie Robinson both going close but it was Brigg who opened the scoring from a well-worked goal on the break.
Acomb recovered and were rewarded just before half-time with a leveller.
Soon into the second half a brace of Acomb efforts rebounded off a post.
After an altercation in the middle of the park a yellow card was produced to reduce both teams to ten men.
Again Acomb came close before they at last took the lead via a flowing move down the left and an accurate cross executed expertly by Ian Roberton.
Brigg threw everything forward, and after an unfortunate clash of heads in a crunch tackle Acomb found themselves down to nine men when Peter Hilton was shown a yellow card. But the homesters Acomb saw out the fractious match in which, even after the final whistle, a Brigg player was red-carded for strong language.
Acomb 2nd team travelled to Chapeltown 3rds with only ten players but pulled off a great 1-0 victory.
The lone goal was hit by Chris Foster before half-time. Midfield man Barry Legg excelled to be named man of the match.
Fielding just ten players, Acomb Ladies 1st team lost 3-0 at Harrogate. They battled hard, but had to rely on stand-in goalkeeper and top performer Gemma Hall for a series of fine saves.
