SCOTT Fletcher got on the Collier Plant Hire/Evening Press player of the year scoreboard last week after earning the man of the match award in the Knights' thrilling 34-20 defeat of Doncaster at Huntington Stadium.
The former Great Britain Amateur captain had his best game for the club, with several notable breaks complementing a fine try. As reported by the Evening Press yesterday, his display also earned him the Arriva Trains Cup player of the round award.
Mark Cain and Paul Broadbent both moved up to four points after picking up the remaining two and one points respectively.
Cain, back to his confident best, scored an excellent try and had a hand in several others and is appearing to relish playing as a creative loose-forward, while Broadbent, who also got on the scoresheet, again oozed class in only his third game after injury.
Several other players can feel hard done by to not make the shortlist but, after such a fine team performance, picking three players out was a near-impossible task.
The best Knights player in each match wins three player of the year points, the second best two points and the third best one. At the end of the season, the player at the top of the list wins £300 and the runner-up £150.
Standings: Smith 8pts, Hayes 5, Krause 5, Jackson 5, Broadbent 4, Cain 4, Fletcher 3, Callaghan 3, Ramsden 3, Godfrey 3, Lloyd 1, Bolus 1.
BOOKINGS are still being taken by City Knights Supporters' Club for the coach they are running to Hull on March 23.
The plan is to run the coach not only for fans but also for anyone wanting to visit the city, with proposals to drop people off at Princess Quay or The Deep before heading over to New Craven Park for the Arriva Trains Cup match against Hull KR (kick off 3pm).
Spokesman Mike Miller said: "It's an idea on certain away trips to get families out and about."
The coach, dependant on demand, will leave Hunting-ton Stadium at 12.45pm, having a Hull city centre drop-off about an hour later before going on to the ground.
The price, if sufficient numbers book, will be £5 for all. The likely return time to collect from the city centre will be 5.45pm.
All bookings today will be taken by Mike Miller on 01904 750500, stating whether rugby or city centre.
