JOHN Collins has lost only one from 20 Marston Moor Villages Doubles-Board League games and his Tankard 'A' side lead by ten points with two matches remaining.
However, they were certainly off colour at Spotted Ox, Tockwith, who had Dave Richmond scoring three tons, with Jamie Taylor and Kev Wilks taking one apiece in a 5-4 victory. Alan Whitehead was Tankard's best player.
Second-placed Royal Oak, Tadcaster, picked up seven points against Red Lion. Andy Carter showed brilliant form, including a ton, three tops then a 76 check. Ken Reynolds, too, found a 76 finish and Andy Hill was a hundred scorer.
Alice Hawthorn 'A' team's 6-3 win included tons from Mal Davey and Chris Hall, while Paul Yore similarly replied for Marston Sports.
Stuart Jackson brought his tons tally for the season to 13 and his Hammerton Social colleague, Ken Dacre supported with 100 in a fine 6-3 victory over Lord Collingwood. A a ton from Andy Chisholm helped Tankard 'B' to pip Lord Nelson 5-4.
Nelson should have done better as Mick McLeod and Jeff Twort each recorded two tons. But they did collect the aggregate on the last game, courtesy of veteran Bernard Deakin and Pete Atkinson.
Tankard's Alan Whitehead, John Collins and Steve Green captured the triples competition title by beating Alice Hawthorn's Mal Davey, Paul Horner and Jim Allen.
Pat Cairns included a 177 score when gaming in 20 darts for Slip Inn in York John Smith's Ladies League division one.
Cue Ball's Tracey Farmeary replied with two tons for 23 and Kirsty Booth a good checkout in the snooker club's 6-3 victory.
Palace kept up their outstanding form with an 84 check for 21 darts from Roz Kerr and 22 from Michelle Britton. Independent's Wendy Shortle-Tracey Bruce saved a whitewash.
Phoenix slid into third place but were taken to the wire by Flag as Carol Perrett-Babs Harrison securing the last-gasp win.
Cindy Benton sparkled for Cygnet 'B' but Tap's Dot Dykes-Sue Tate secured the match.
Liz Richford-Pat Nelson gave Clifton the 5-4 win at Britannia, whose Chris Moore top-scored.
Slipper's last pair, Aline Turpin-Ann Parkyn got a 5-4 victory over Cygnet 'A' whose Dawn Exton hit the tons.
Dringhouses cemented their position at the top of division two with a comfortable 7-2 win in which Margaret Bell excelled. Pauline Dale and Sue Lacey were point winners for Shepherd 'B'.
Britannia leapt into second place with a good 7-2 win against Leeman 'A'.
Severus won the first four, then Leeman 'B' struck with Jean Smallwood, but Mavis Gallimore took the winner despite a maximum score from Toni Smallwood.
Holgate, however, lost ground. Their two points came via mother and daughter Anne and Maxine Smith after Barbara Suter set Clifton off on a run. Betty Jameson found a 67 finish in the decider to give Blacksmith's victory at Jubilee.
Janet Harris-Julie Bruce staged a decider for Burton against Shepherd and colleagues Val Pinder-Jackie Ridall obliged.
The pole position in division three changed hands again as Victoria Vaults slumped 7-2 to Mitre, whose Terry Corney and Fran Holmes were their point winners.
Tang Hall WMC surged to the top spot but had to recover from a 4-2 deficit at Mount. Barbara Ward partnered Mavis Rawcliffe to seal victory.
Josie Havens-Laura Harwood swung the score 4-3 in favour of Reindeer, but Puss 'B' levelled with Colette Wilson-Dot Sellers before Joan Knowles-Michelle Kelly added the 5-4 winner.
Puss 'A' were outdone by Woolpack's last hope Kath Powell-Julia McKie, while Nikki Riley (100,100) was in superb form for Burnholme as they polished off Cue Ball 6-3.
