A HEALTH manager who is overseeing investment and expansion at York Hospital is celebrating after his colleagues helped to deliver his first son.
Brian Golding, 39, York Health Services NHS Trust's newly appointed head of capital planning, is pictured here with his new son, Alfie, who was born at York Hospital last month. Brian, who has moved to Wistow, near Selby with his wife, Jacqueline, and Alfie, is based in offices in Bootham Park Hospital, but works closely with colleagues on the York Hospital site.
Brian said: "It felt special to have Alfie delivered in the hospital I work at.
"He's our first, so it is a bit daunting. But we've got a very supportive healthcare network around us, which is nice and reassuring.
"Jacqueline and I had talked about Alfie's arrival for months, but nothing prepares you for that incredible overwhelming emotion when you hold your baby for the first time; only minutes old. My colleagues in the capital planning team tell me that the only difficult period is the first 30 years, after which it's plain sailing."
