THIS week the Evening Press stunned one shop owner - the Evening Press WYLAP retailer of the week.
"I am very proud," said Teresa Scott, 51, owner of Milton Street off-licence in York.
"We did make a big effort, we have put up lots of the posters round the shop, and in the window, and asked people if they want a paper, and it definitely seems to have worked."
Now, beside the posters, Mrs Smith has hung her WYLAP Retailer of the Week certificate, in pride of place behind the counter.
"I put it up there where all my customers can see it, and with things like this in the paper I expect we will get even more people in the shop."
In the small and tight-knit community of the Lawrence Street area, Mrs Scott prides herself on knowing her regulars.
"We are always friendly round here, I have been here for 15 years, running the shop with the support of my husband and family.
"It is a small shop and we sell everything, but the Press is the only paper we want in here. It is what our regulars want, and is clearly good for business."
