ILL-FEELING has marred the build-up to tomorrow's game between York City Knights and Doncaster following an article in a Dragons match programme, writes Peter Martini.
An article in the programme for Doncaster's Challenge Cup tie at home to Wigan a fortnight ago referred to York as having a 'rags to riches to rags' campaign, a phrase which has not gone down well with the Knights hierarchy.
Chief executive Steve Ferres, when questioned by the Evening Press, said he would be talking to Doncaster chairman John Wright about the article after tomorrow's match.
Ferres added: "I will address my comments to the Doncaster chairman. I do not want to bring the game into disrepute, and I think these statements have."
The article - attributed to someone called 'Jemmo' - read: "... it's been a while since we last congregated in our little hovel we call home for a good old game of rugby league and since then a lot of water has passed under the bridge.
"Two consecutive wins over York who's (sic) rags to riches to rags campaign seems to be going much as expected having yet to pick up a win against professional opposition. But then we have the two more important games..."
Ferres added: "We would not publish anything like that in our programme and we do not expect anyone else to do that."
