YOUR article about the car accident near Boroughbridge on March 7 states that one of the casualties was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The casualty was, in fact, airlifted by the RAF Search and Rescue Sea King helicopter from RAF Leconfield.
Military crews are fortunate in that their equipment allows them to operate at night, in most weather conditions, down to ground level, a capability that cannot be matched by any other agency in the UK.
It is, however, important to remember that the helicopter was only one part of a large team of emergency services personnel that were involved on the night.
As the pilot of the helicopter I would like to express the sympathy of the whole crew to the families of the victims.
Flight Lieutenant JM Stanley,
E Flight,
202 Squadron,
RAF Leconfield,
near Beverley.
