HUNTINGTON welterweight Glenn Banks is set to grace the international stage when he flies to Copenhagen at the end of the month.
Banks, who controversially lost his last fight to experienced Dudley fighter Martin Gordon on a majority decision, will be part of a select squad of amateur England fighters to make the trip.
Trainer Bill Brown, who has trained the likes of former undefeated European, British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion Henry Wharton and upcoming York light-heavyweight prospect Jamie Warters in his time, said: "He will be guaranteed at least two fights out there and I think he will do well. He is coming along smashing.
"He was good enough on his performance against Gordon to prove that."
Banks, who fights out of the St Paul's Amateur Boxing Club in Hull, will go into the competition on the back of the Gordon defeat.
It had seemed that Banks had done enough to overcome the challenge of his vastly experienced rival, only for Gordon to be awarded the result.
"The crowd were on their feet as they couldn't believe it," said Brown. "It was the fight of the night and we all thought he had done enough to win it."
Banks would like to thank his sponsor Matt Childs and the coach-load of supporters that cheered him on.
