THE Canadian Women's Under-19 Lacrosse Team are currently in Harrogate as guests of Harrogate Ladies' College.
The team is touring the United Kingdom as part of their preparations for the 2003 World Championships, staying in Harrogate for two days before continuing the tour which takes in six matches throughout England and Wales.
During their stay, the Canadian women will play the Yorkshire Lacrosse 'A' and 'B' sides, which include 12 players from Harrogate Ladies' College.
The squad of 24 players, aged 17 and 18, are staying at Harrogate Ladies' College and explored the town before playing their match scheduled today.
A lively crowd was expected to cheer on a Yorkshire side which was largely composed of the school's own players.
Head of PE at Harrogate Ladies' College, Nicky Butters, said: "This is a great opportunity for us to see a top-level lacrosse team in action and for the Yorkshire squads to pit themselves against one of the best sides in the world."
