ESTATE agents have been "inundated" with calls from people wanting to buy the cottage with no mod cons.
More than 100 people bombarded Hunters, York, to register as bidders for the isolated bungalow near Dunnington within hours of yesterday's Evening Press article.
Eccentric electrician Richard Checksfield, who has gone without power at the cottage for the last 28 years, has decided to sell up in favour of a more comfortable lifestyle.
Jon Wright, a company director at Hunters Estate Agents, said its auction line had gone "absolutely ballistic" since the article.
"People are calling from all over the place," he said.
"It has been a mixture of developers and individuals.
"I've never had so much interest for one property in such a short space of time."
Richard's three-bedroomed cottage will go under the hammer along with other properties at a special auction on April 16, at Le Meridien Hotel, organised by Hunters.
