POSITIVE feedback and innovative staff have helped Harrogate and Scarborough county courts win a top award.
Both courts have received a Charter Mark, after implementing open days to explain procedures, and improving access for the disabled.
Scarborough County Court held an open day that featured a mock trial and organised a meeting for local users to help court staff and solicitors improve the way they work.
Harrogate County Court raised awareness of its services through information posters and comment cards.
Steve Kaye, court manager at Harrogate County Court, said: "All the Charter Mark team agreed on one thing, and that was making the application had focused the entire court staff on customer service issues.
"As a result, the winning or losing of the award itself was of secondary importance; all the team were pleased that a significant improvement in our customer service had been achieved, regardless of the result."
