THE race for the York Sunday Afternoon Football League division two title is starting to hot-up with only five points separating the seven top teams.
Leaders Clifton Rangers won 3-2 at home to second-placed Sheriff Hutton, who dropped down to sixth place as a result. Musson (2) and Firth scored for the leaders with Tymon and Marshall replying for the visitors.
White Swan climbed four places after winning both games in a double header at Puss 'N Boots Reserves. The first game was won 3-2 with a late goal and the second game was won 1-0 with a penalty by Pears.
Heworth won 10-0 at home to Gimcrack with seven players getting on the score-sheet and Swan returned from Wigginton with a 7-2 victory, Coates scoring a hat-trick.
Drum have moved into third place after winning 7-2 at home to bottom club CB United.
Only two games took place in division one with none of the top three playing.
Saville, in fourth place, came away from Black Dog with a 5-2 victory with Collins, Taylor and Bradshaw on the score-sheet. Gaynor netted both Black Dog goals. College of Law beat Knavesmire with goals from Trueman and Atkins.
