A NORTH YORKSHIRE car park has won a top security accolade.
The Jubilee multi-storey car park, in the centre of Harrogate, scooped a Secured Car Parks Award.
The county's Chief Constable, Della Cannings, was there today to present the award to Coun Geoff Webber, chairman of Harrogate and District Safer Community Partnership. The Secured Car Parks scheme is an initiative of the Association of Chief Police Officers, backed by the Home Office and the British Parking Association.
The award to the Jubilee Car Park recognises its range of effective measures, from CCTV to lighting, which create a safe and secure environment for users.
Ms Cannings said: "Our crime and disorder strategy shows that vehicle crime is a major concern to Harrogate residents, and the council's involvement in secure car parks shows how a partnership approach can crack crime and allay such concerns."
