YORK MP Hugh Bayley was put on the spot by youngsters from one of the city's schools.
The MP was quizzed by Year 10 pupils from Millthorpe School as part of their citizenship programme.
He talked to them about his work as an MP and took questions on current affairs.
Mary Hill, deputy head teacher, said: "We want events like this to help young people to recognise that the world of politics is relevant to them."
Mr Bayley said: "In a democracy everyone has the right to express their views and to hold politicians to account, which is what citizenship lessons in schools are all about."
