Selby Warriors Under-10s showed more improvement despite losing to Elland Boxers, for whom two players did all the damage scoring three tries apiece with all extras added.
Selby spent long spells camped on the visitors' line and the coaches were pleased with the display, particularly that of man of the match hooker Daniel Bate, Stevie Bell, twins Ben and James Gooding and Daniel Stansfield.
Arron Sharp nearly scored the team's first try with a superb kick and chase, while the most improved player was Bob Hardy and the tackle of the day was by Dean Spooner.
The team have only played four games while the sides they are playing are well established, many having started four years ago.
New Earswick All Blacks U12s put up a spirited display in a 6-4 defeat to high-flying Oulton Raiders.
All Blacks started the stronger and went ahead with a try from Luke Watling, but they failed to take other chances and turned round 4-0 up. A single defensive lapse in the second half allowed Oulton to score and convert from under the posts.
Two disallowed tries in the first ten minutes proved costly as New Earswick All Blacks U10s lost 22-18 to Hunslet Warriors.
The lead change hands several times before Hunslet - who had earlier drawn level with a scrambled try in the corner, despite James Leaf appearing to knock the ball from the player - won it with a breakaway try near the end.
All Blacks' tries came from Harry Waudby, scrum-half Jake Atkinson and Tom Baron.
New Earswick U9s were impressive in all aspects as they won 40-4 at Eastmoor.
David Hayes and Adam Speck both notched hat-tricks, while Jamie Moran and David Bellwood got a brace apiece.
Captain Tim Winn led a good team effort as York Acorn U9s beat East Leeds. Ryan Gallagher got four tries, man of the match Danny Atkins two and Ryan Duffel his first for the club.
Jordan Myers got a hat-trick and Ryan Waters and Jack Anderson two apiece as York Acorn U8s scored ten tries against Doncaster Toll Bar.
Mich Cowton, Dominic Noone and Tim Stubbs also scored in an outstanding team performance, in which fine defence by Harry Bromwich, Sean Kellett and man of the match Stubbs was to the fore.
Heworth U8s' season restarted with a trip to Redhill where they found the hosts too big to handle. However, they kept going and refused to give in, with James Kilmartin, Oliver Murphy and Peter Moss impressive.
