CONCERNS have been raised over the multi-million pound blueprint drawn up to develop York's transport network.
Liberal Democrat councillors on City of York Council said the £7.8 million 2003/04 transport capital programme, which was discussed at last night's meeting of the executive member for transport and advisory panel, neglected some areas and did not go far enough on others.
But the plan, which includes a large range of measures, from developments in park and ride to a new footbridge across the River Ouse, was welcomed as a major positive step by Labour councillor Tracey Simpson-Laing, the authority's executive member for transport.
The Lib Dems today welcomed the meeting's decision to review the various safety schemes outlined in the local transport.
They voiced concerns that there was a lack of "joined up thinking" in outlined schemes, such as village safety studies, school safety zones and safe routes to schools.
