THE jury in the case of the senior Ministry of Defence (MoD) policeman accused of fraud was today considering its verdicts.
The seven men and five women at York Crown Court have to decide if Chief Inspector Graeme Robert Drummond obtained more than £12,800 in allowances between 1997 and 2001 by deception.
The prosecution alleges that the policeman, who headed the MoD police force at RAF Menwith Hill, near Harrogate, claimed a housing allowance knowing that he was paying no rent for his MoD home in Oak Avenue, Harrogate.
Drummond, 47, has said that he thought that he was paying rent.
The chief inspector, now of Osborne Walk, Harrogate, denies three charges of deception.
The prosecution has dropped two charges of false accounting.
The jury left courtroom two at York Crown Court at 3.25pm yesterday and Judge John Swanson sent them home at 4.15pm. They returned to court this morning.
