YOUNGSTERS at a York school have been getting top tips on how to handle a medical emergency from the city's cycling paramedic.
Mark Inman, who uses a specially-equipped mountain bike to race to incidents in the centre of York under the Life-Cycle Project, visited Ebor School, in Rawcliffe Lane, to explain his work and to give first aid tips to the ten and 11-year-old pupils.
Paul Brown, Life-Cycle Project manager, said: "I think it's fantastic the school is offering this sort of course for pupils and we are more than happy to get involved. The sooner children are taught the basics of first aid, the better."
Teacher Beverley Lawrie said: "The course will teach basic first aid, everything from how to put someone in the recovery position to how to contact the emergency services. We are delighted that Mark offered to help."
Mark's visit was part of a six-week first aid course, which a group of ten children are completing as part of their after-school activities.
