A YOUNG man from a North Yorkshire village died when the car he was driving left a rural road and careered into a tree.
The 28-year-old man, from Acklam, near Malton, was travelling on an unclassified road about three-quarters-of-a-mile north- east of Bugthorpe. He is yet to be named.
Police said he appeared to have lost control of his green Vauxhall Cavalier, which collided with a tree before coming to rest in a field.
The crash, at about 2pm yesterday, occurred as the man was travelling from Kirby Underdale, near Pocklington, towards Bugthorpe. Emergency service personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
PC Chloe Lawrence is appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the car prior to the accident to contact her at Goole Police Station on 01405 721013.
