A LAST minute goal denied Harrogate Railway maximum points from their Northern Counties East League premier division trip to Brigg.

Entering the final moments of the tie, the Railwaymen were leading 2-1, and seemingly on course for a place in the top six, when Danny Blanchard popped up to give the FA Vase semi-finalists a share of the points.

Kevin Smith had provided the ammunition for Danny Ames to head home Rail's opener and although Lee Borman struck back for Brigg, Ian McLean restored the lead when he scored straight from the corner.

Tonight Rail switch their attention to the President's Cup when they entertain old foes Sheffield in the semi-final (kick-off 7.45pm).

The pressure was piled on Tadcaster Albion boss Wayne Day as he saw his side go down 5-1 to Long Eaton United in NCEL division one.

The defeat leaves Taddy firmly entrenched in the bottom two of the table and facing the ignominy of having to apply for re-election - something which has been a formality in the past as the league has not been full up.

But with five sides applying to join the set-up for next season - and only three spaces automatically available for clubs who meet the correct criteria - Taddy are in danger of being edged out.

Pickering Town and Selby Town both saw their matches fall foul to the weather.

Harrogate Town made it back-to-back wins in the UniBond League premier division with a comprehensive 4-1 rout of Colwyn Bay.

Striking duo Scott Jackson and Marc Smith both netted their first league goals for the club, while Colin Hunter made it 3-0 after just 32 minutes.

Bay hit back back through Carl Furlong, but Simon Sturdy's header sealed the win.
