NEWS that the Audit Commission has found errors in the reporting of inpatient and outpatient waiting lists at York Health Services NHS Trust (March 5), coming as it does so soon after the resignation of Mrs Looker, the chairman of the Primary Care Trust, must be a cause for concern.
In addition there has been criticism by Hugh Bayley of the PCT and its failure to spend money allocated for intermediate care for the elderly.
The Primary Care Trust is responsible for approximately 90 per cent of the hospital's budget. York hospital currently has three star status, but in light of current events it will be interesting to see if they are retained.
The public need to be reassured that they are getting the best possible health care and that monies are being used to improve patient care and not on bureaucracy.
Mrs P Baird,
Ashford Place,
York.
...WE read in the news columns complaints about doctors and hospitals; but I do feel when we get very satisfactory treatment from our doctors and hospitals we should show our appreciation.
My husband and I have attended Tockwith surgery for more than ten years, and have received excellent service from the doctors.
I would at this opportunity like to convey my thanks to both Dr Simpson and Dr Tait for their good treatment and kindness throughout that time and also to Dr Porter, who has now retired.
We have been patients in both York and Harrogate hospitals and have no complaints with our treatment there. Thank you one and all, including the receptionists and nurses.
Catherine and Peter Watson,
Butt Hedge,
Long Marston,
York.
