York City supporter Dave Potter (above) is urging fellow fans to take a gamble on the Supporters' Trust to strike it lucky this weekend.
Potter's novel fund-raising idea involves mystic Minstermen fans buying a £1 lucky dip National Lottery ticket ahead of Saturday night's draw.
Supporters are being urged to then write 'York City Supporters' Trust' on the back of their ticket and drop it any of the collection boxes at tomorrow's Bootham Crescent clash with Cambridge United.
The numbers on the donated tickets will be checked against those drawn on Saturday, with the proceeds from any winning tickets, including jackpot ones, banked by the Trust.
"Obviously, we still want fans to put money in the buckets and give as much as they can to the Trust," said Potter.
"But if people can buy a lucky dip and put that in the buckets as well then you just never know, we might hit the jackpot.
"If we do, it would go a long way to buying back Bootham Crescent, our rightful home. There's obviously a very slim chance that it will come off, but it is a chance and I will try anything to get back our home."
He urged: "Please put your money into the bucket but if everybody would buy one lottery lucky dip, and put it into one of the buckets well, who knows, we might get the big one."
