A DASH of colour was brought to York at the launch of this year's Marie Curie Daffodil Campaign.

Marie Curie nurse Cara Tordoff, and community fundraising manager Susie Fothergill, seen here in the hat, helped to launch the campaign in the city with the help of a striking daffodil-covered Smartcar, donated to the charity by campaign supporters Yellow Pages.

The pair urged the public to wear a daffodil - the symbol of cancer care - on the national Daffodil Day, tomorrow, and throughout the month-long £2 million campaign.

Collections will take place in York tomorrow, in Selby on Monday, in Northallerton on March 12 and in Harrogate on March 15.

Susie Fothergill said: "Marie Curie Nurses make a real difference to people's lives. They can bring calm to patients and carers alike, ensuring families are not left to cope on their own.

"We can all show our support for this invaluable work by wearing a daffodil and making a donation on Marie Curie Daffodil Day."

Fabric daffodil badges are available to buy. To make a donation by credit or debit card, please call freephone 0800 716146. Volunteers are needed to help collect on Daffodil Day itself, to volunteer call the York fundraising office on 01904 621000.
