RISING from the ashes of grunge, Eyes Adrift set off fond reminiscence about the days when being greasy and unwashed was a virtue.

Made up of three of grunge's defining bands - the Meat Puppets, Nirvana and Sublime - this three-piece breathe new life into a sound that many feared consigned to history. Bass player Krist Novoselic had been absent-without-leave since Kurt Cobain's episode with a shotgun, but he barely misses a beat in this trio and could have a new vehicle to stride to chart domination. With Curt Kirkwood on vocals, Eyes Adrift were always likely to have a sound more Meat Puppets than Nirvana, but they retain that crucial grunge vibe and combine it with something more profound. In short, they've grown up. Stand-out tracks come early, with the moody Sleight Of Hand and Alaska, and while Eyes Adrift are aimed more at America, the odds are you will soon be converted.
