VISITORS from Ghana brought their fair trade message to the famous chocolate city of York.
Comfort Kwaasibea, a Fairtrade cocoa farmer, and Rijayatu Razaak, the 14-year-old daughter of a cocoa farmer, spent Tuesday in York to promote Fairtrade Fortnight.
Rijayatu visited All Saints' School and the University of York, and was treated to a special young person's tour of York by pupils of Burnholme College, before she joined Comfort at City Screen to distribute free samples of Fairtrade Divine and Dubble chocolate.
Rijayatu said: "York is very nice. My favourite part of the day was being shown round the shops by the students."
Louise Allcock, a representative from the visit co-ordinators, The Day Chocolate Company, accompanied Rijayatu throughout the visit.
She said: "Everyone has been really friendly and we've had a really good time. The students seemed to know a lot about Fairtrade, and those that didn't thought it was a good idea."
