A NORTH Yorkshire businessman's plans to convert outbuildings into a retirement home for himself and his wife have been thrown out by council officials.
Iain Dale, who was made a CBE for his services to commerce, planned to develop the site next to his current home at Low Marishes, outside Malton.
But members of Ryedale District Council's northern area planning committee have voted to reject the application.
