THE "steaks" are high this season for York Knights rugby player Darren Callaghan.
As an added incentive, his sponsor, Dringhouses butcher Ged Bell, will give him a giant sirloin steak every time the team wins.
"It's just a bit of fun to show Darren how much I want the team to win," said Ged, who runs a shop in Middlethorpe Grove with his son, Lee.
"Hopefully the thought of a sirloin will spur him on.
"I've told him that if they lose he has got to do 20 press-ups outside the shop, but I don't think he's too keen!"
Darren, 26, from Acomb, who plays loose forward, said: "I love steaks.
"If I get enough of them I might end up on the front row of the scrum!"
