City of York Under-18s were one of the six top teams in the country to take part in the National Indoor Finals at Kidderminster.
With all but one of their players eligible for the same competition next year, City of York fielded the youngest side of the finals.
They lost their two pool games 6-3 against Harleston Magpies and 6-5 against Winchester.
They had the best of the open play but were unable to convert their numerous penalty corners.
In contrast, both Magpies and Winchester fielded drag-flick specialists at penalty corners from which they scored the majority of their goals.
Despite being down to ten players, City of York U14 boys, who included two girls in their ranks, managed 1-1 draws with Kingston-upon-Hull and Ben Rhydding but lost 2-0 to Sheffield in their last match.
Paul Snape was outstanding in goal saving two penalty flicks. Andrew Walker played some skilful hockey, while midfielders Amelia Smalley, Becky Raper and Adam Ramli did well.
City of York U10s maintained their position at the top of the Yorkshire Youth league with a 22-goal bonanza and five straight victories.
They beat Kirklees 6-0, Harrogate 4-0, Ben Rhydding 3-0, Slazengers 4-0 and Rotherham 5-1.
Top scorers for York were Michael Sansoni (8) and Tom Feasby (6).
The York 'B' team shared three goal-less draws before losing 2-1 to Brigg and 3-0 to Adel.
