YOUR report with picture showing three members of the Castle Area Campaign dressed as High Court judges was admirable (January 15). Particularly in reminding everyone a decision is still awaited.
At this time, when two other large developments are being contemplated (Hungate and the 'Tear Drop' on Leeman Road), Coppergate has lost its high profile.
Hopefully, when the opponents of Coppergate are looking at the two new proposals, they will remember the protracted ten-plus years journey of Coppergate. I am certain councillors and developers will, it costs them money!
Coppergate II is not about Piccadilly or Castlegate, it is about a comprehensive development on a major site spanning the River Foss.
Reports in the press during November and December further support the evidence given at the public hearing last year.
First there was Alan Black's positive survey on "the strength of retail letting in the city centre", and secondly we saw the positive attitude of managers at the city's two most important privately- owned stores, on Christmas trading.
True justice in March has to be yes for Coppergate.
