SOME mental health workers in York are suggesting I have misrepresented myself when promoting the York Centre For Human Givens Therapy, by saying I had been a hospital psychiatrist.
Because I pride myself and the work carried out at the centre as being honest and ethical, at no time could I have given such an impression.
In fact I am extremely proud that I was a middle-aged, part-time nursing assistant on an acute psychiatric ward when I was first introduced to human givens therapy by a notice on the ward promoting MindFields seminars and workshops.
I took up the challenge to take the human givens diploma.
Being aware of the chronic need in York for effective therapy in lifting depression, treating trauma and anxiety, I decided to open the centre last November.
It is the first of its kind anywhere in the UK.
