RARELY-seen objects belonging to the last owner of Treasurer's House in York are to go on display - as the National Trust launches an appeal for volunteers to work at the historic building.
York residents are being urged to become garden guides or room stewards as the number of visitors to Treasurer's House, in Minster Yard, continues to soar.
A series of special exhibitions is due to take place when the building re-opens on March 22 following its winter break.
Pictured here are volunteers examining swords and other items which once belonged to Frank Green, the owner of the house, who gave it and its contents to the National Trust. These will be among items on display.
Property manager Jane Whitehead said: "Over 43,000 people visit Treasurer's House each year and the numbers keep increasing. Although we have over 200 volunteers already, we need to recruit and train a few more people to do a three-hour weekly duty so that visitors get one of the best days out in the city.
"This is a great opportunity to be part of a friendly team of people who welcome visitors to the house and garden."
